Caramels
For several years I've been looking for a good recipe to make caramels. I've had my share of flops. This year, again puttering around on Pinterest, I found this recipe. It's an easy recipe but I'm only going to link it for you here today. The instructions are long and it is best if you go with her instructions. If I type it out, I will likely take short cuts and your caramels will end up horrible. Trust me when I say these are the best caramels I've ever made/eaten. You will need a candy thermometer. And when she says cut the caramels after only cooling for 2-3 hours, she means it. I ran out of time on the day I made them and they sat in the pan for two days. Cutting them after that much time was a BEAR. Don't make the same mistake. :) The recipe makes a fair amount. It was perfect for teacher gifts and taking to my Bible study. They look super cute wrapped in wax paper, all old timey. Enjoy!

You're winning me with the "Best Caramel Recipe EVER" argument, but I have an unatural fear of caramel ever since I lost a cap to a mollar, and almost swallowed while eating Grandma Deemer's caramel popcorn. It might also have something to do with being in South Africa at the time, and brothers telling me about African dentists loving big drills. ;)
